At the beginning of the school year, one of our classmates became ill and was absent from school for about a month. He had a bad infection under his arm which resulted in him having to have surgery. Everyday children around the globe become sick for various reasons. One of those reasons is an incurable disease-cancer. In order to help those in need, our class will encourage our school to become involved in raising money for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. Our teacher, Ms. Trosclair, was reading a book, City on Our Knees by TobyMac and read about a young girl named Alex who started a lemonade stand in order to raise money for children who had neuroblastoma, a form of cancer. Knowing that we had been working towards raising money for our school through a fundraising event, she talked to us on a daily basis about the importance of teamwork. From there, we came up with the great idea to spend two recesses a week for the next three months selling lemonade to the students at our school in order to benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. With the money that is raised, we can make a donation to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation that will assist teams of specialists, scientists, and doctors in finding a cure for childhood cancer. By becoming involved in this activity, we will find a greater importance other than our own personal needs. It is when we come together as a team that great things can happen. We have committed to making this activity a success by playing our own individual roles in this great endeavor trying to combat childhood cancer one sip at a time.

Dear Ms. Trosclair and class,
I am so glad to hear that you have had a great experience fundraising for Alex's Lemonade Stand. We are so appreciative; on behalf of families of children with cancer -- a BIG thank you to each of you and your supporters for making your stand so successful:)
