Celebrating A Decade Of Standing For Hope

ALSF 10 Years

2010 marks 10 years since our founder Alexandra "Alex" Scott held her very first front yard lemonade stand to find a cure for all childhood cancers. In celebration of the progress that has been made in the last decade, and with the knowledge that each day we are moving closer to a cure, we are on a mission to raise more funds and awareness in 2010 than in any year prior!

Among the planned 10th Anniversary activities, we plan to hold 10 high profile lemonade stands, enlisting the help of celebrities, sports stars and high profile venues. The first of our high profile lemonade stands were held during the Pro Bowl, Super Bowl and Big East Tournament.

Since Alex held her first lemonade stand to help her doctors find a cure for all childhood cancers,  the funds raised have supported over 125 research projects leading to significant discovery. Among the breakthroughs Alex's Lemonade Stand has had a hand in over the past decade: the identification of three genes associated with the risk of neuroblastoma; the uncovering of a protein in Ewing’s sarcoma patients that may suppress the effects of chemotherapy; and linking mutations in two genes to nearly three-quarters of the most common types of brain cancers known as gliomas.   Now that is something to celebrate!

So,  join us in marking this milestone in our history as we remember our young founder and her front yard beginnings, and look forward to the next decade of standing for hope ~ hold a stand, donate today, and get involved. Be a part of this special year!
