Thanks to everyone who made the 5th Annual Lemon Run a huge success!
We raised more than $250,000 to help fund childhood cancer research (and counting as the fundraising contest remains open until Nov. 26)! More than 2,500 participants – a record for the Lemon Run - enjoyed a cool, crisp morning run or stroll through Fairmount Park on November 10 to raise awareness for childhood cancer and raise funds for cures. A special thanks to everyone who participated and whose team spirit (in some cases, involving costumes!) and commitment to honoring our heroes helped to make the day meaningful, special and successful.
Among the day’s highlights were a number of inspiring hero families honoring their childhood cancer heroes, as well as a kids’ 100 meter dash held prior to the 5K. Liz Scott, Alex Scott’s mom, presented awards to the fastest race finishers in each category and recognized the top fundraising teams. Brian Riggs, dad to childhood cancer hero Payton and the leader of Team Payton, spoke about how important support is for childhood cancer research in light of his daughter’s battle with neuroblastoma, which she fought at just 8 months old and who currently remains cancer free.
Thank you to all participants, virtual runners and sponsors for an inspiring day!
