The combination of lemonade, summer and the initiative to find a cure for childhood cancer is always a “grand” time. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation invites stands across the country to take it to the next level by holding a “Grand Stand” in the fight against childhood cancer. 

A “Grand Stand,” is a large lemonade stand that focuses on bringing the surrounding community together in an effort to raise critical funds for childhood cancer research and awareness, while having a great time. “Grand Stands” rely on the efforts of individuals, businesses and communities to help make a difference in the lives of families affected by cancer.

Rissolo Family Grand Stand
San Diego, CA

On May 15 & 16, 2010, Dominique Rissolo and Zoë Abrahams will host their 6th Annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand Grand Stand in loving memory of their son Lorenzo “Enzo” Rissolo. At the age of sixteen months, Lorenzo not only fought this terrible disease, but inspired hope that one day the suffering of those in similar circumstances could end.

Engelhardt Grand Stand
Bethlehem, PA

The Engelhardt family will hold its Fourth 4th Annual Grand Stand at the Rose Garden in Bethlehem, PA on May 22, 2010.  The Engelhardts bring the community together by hosting their annual carnival-type event, which last year included the participation of Star Wars characters! Since the Engelhardts started hosting their Grand Stand in 2007, they have raised over $32,000!

On May 22, 2010, Publix supermarkets throughout Jacksonville, Florida will be taken over by Alex’s Lemonade Stands! The lemonade stands in Jacksonville originated when the Rak family decided to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer after their daughter Lina battled the disease. Though the Raks have moved out of the area, the YMCA Adventure Guides and Princesses continue what they started. Lemonade for the stands has graciously been donated by Pepsi.

Petz Grand Stand

On May 29, 2010, the Petz Family will host their Fourth Grand Stand this year in memory of their son, Benny.  Packed with volunteers and visitors, this Grand Stand will have a jumping castle, balloons, activities for kids, and lots of lemonade!  Since 2006, the Petz family has raised more than $22,000!

On June 4 & 5, 2010, residents of the Kansas City metro area will show their support for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation by hosting lemonade stands throughout the community. Local businesses, families and community groups, in association with Hy-Vee, The Kansas City Royals and several other Kansas City Area Businesses will raise awareness and funds in the battle against childhood cancer through their stands.  This year the Kansas City efforts will surpass the $500,000 raised mark in just 5 years.

On June 5, 2010, the Huscroft family will host their Sixth 6th Annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand Grand Stand. Hosting stands throughout Portage and Summit County, and even one in Georgia, the community pulled together to exceed their goal of raising $20,000 in 2009. The Huscroft family began holding their lemonade stands after hearing the story of Alexandra “Alex” Scott at the Kentucky Derby in 2004. Just before walking out the door to go to the races, they heard the story of Alex and her connection to the Kentucky Derby contender, Afleet Alex. With four healthy children at home, the family was thankful for their good fortune, but wanted to get involved. They have been coordinating successful community-wide events ever since!

In 2006, the Villagers Theater group in Somerset NJ turned their concession stand at the show into an Alex's Lemonade Stand. In 2008 and 2009, they expanded their efforts to include the entire month of June and sold paper lemons, lemonade and other “lemon focused” merchandise throughout the entire run of their June show. In 2009, three other community theater groups joined the cause as well. Together, these NJ Community theaters have raised over $3,000.  On June 11, 2010, the theater group will have even more theaters join as they become a Grand Stand with fundraising goal of $10,000!

On June 12, 2010, the Johnson family will host their 5th Annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand Grand Stand in honor of their daughter Emma. Along with lemonade and Rita’s Water Ice, the Johnson Family Grand Stand includes a bounce house, magic and clown shows, a dunk tank, coloring and crafts, spin art, and more. The day also includes raffles, an ALSF merchandise store, a DJ and returning for the third consecutive year, a butterfly release.

On June 12, 2010, the Dilworth family will host their 5th Annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand Grand Stand. Along with lemonade and snow cones, the Dilworth Family Grand Stand also includes various family friendly activities for children of all ages. Among the activities: face painting, a silent auction, coloring and crafts, a bounce house, balloons, a visit from the local fire department!

One Tribe, One T, One Hope 2010 - On June 12, 2010, led by Michael Puckett & family, the 3rd Annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand Grand Stand will be held in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. With the goal of “striking out cancer,” a local 4-year-old T-ball team, within the Murfreesboro Baseball Association, will play a special T-ball game against the Riverdale Warriors High School baseball team to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer. This Grand Stand demonstrates that hosting an Alex’s Lemonade Stand event is a fun way for the community to unite.

On June 12, 2010, the Irvine Spectrum will played host to the Taggart family’s 6th Annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand Grand Stand in memory of their son John Kelly Taggart. The day will be complete with balloon animals, face painting, the Orange County Fire Authority Fire Engines, and of course lemonade!

On Saturday, June 12, 2010 three families who have each been touched by childhood cancer will host their Annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand Grand Stand during the Foundation’s National Lemonade Days weekend. The Baxter Grand Stand is a collective effort of three families who have each personally been touched by childhood cancer. Brad and Lorie Lower's daughter, Louise; Geoff and Heather Lux’s son, Austin; and Scott and Jennifer DeNobile’s son, Vincent were all diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer. The fact that Louise, Austin, and Vincent are all healthy is nothing short of miraculous, and the families continue to look for ways to fight the deadly disease. In total since first holding their first lemonade stand in 2005, the Baxter families have raised over $40,000.

On June 13, 2010 the Hollway family will host their Sixth 6th Annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand Grand Stand at the Mall of America in honor of their daughter Molly Hollway, who is a childhood cancer survivor. In the past, the day has included two performances by Studio 4, Molly’s dance group on the Rotunda Stage; and a silent auction.

On July 10, 2010, the Miller family of Bowling Green, Kentucky along with many volunteers throughout Warren County will host their 6th Annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand Grand Stand. The Bowling Green Alex’s Lemonade Stand Day is held in honor and memory of the families in the area who have been touched by childhood cancer. Riley Miller, the eldest daughter of the Miller family, held her first Alex’s Lemonade Stand in 2005 in memory of her baby brother Reid and later in memory of her baby brother Randon. Many other children joined her that year to honor loved ones and it became a citywide event. In total, the Bowling Green Grand Stand has raised over $91,000!

On July 10, 2010, the Miller family in San Diego will host their 5th Annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand Grand Stand in honor of all children who have fought and continue to fight pediatric cancer. Along with lemonade and FM 94.9 broadcasting live, the Miller Family Grand Stand includes a silent auction, coloring and crafts, spin art, balloons and much more. In the past, the day has also included live acoustic music from local San Diego bands and giveaways from RUSTY Surf Company. The Miller family has raised over $28,000!

Beard Family Grand Stand
Charlestown, NH

On July 10, 2010, the Beard family will hold their 6th Annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand Grand Stand in honor of their son Jacob. The family decided to become involved in the organization due to their personal experience with the disease. Jacob was diagnosed with a spinal tumor at the age of two, enduring a tumor resection surgery followed by three different chemotherapy regimens over the next 5 years. Jacob continues to be monitored every three months, and so far has had no tumor growth. Since raising $170 at his first stand, Jacob’s stand has continued to grow, exceeding the goal of raising over $10,000 for the battle against childhood cancer.

Quinn Grand Stand

On August, 20, 2010, Maryann Quinn and the Saints Peter and Paul Youth Group will hold their annual lemonade stand at the Scranton/Wilkes Barre Yankees Stadium.  They held their Grand Stand there last year and it raised over $11,000.  The Youth Group has been hosting Alex’s Lemonade Stand Grand Stands since 2006 and has raised over $46,000!

Torres Grand Stand

This will be the first year the Torres family will be joining ALSF as Grand Stand hosts.  Their stand will be held on September 18, 2010 and will feature face painters, carnival games, a bounce house/slide, and Radio Disney!  The Torres family fundraises in honor of their daughter Brinley, a childhood cancer fighter!
