We will have our next lemonade stand Wednesday, October 7, 2015. We're trying to do one lemonade stand one Wednesday each month through November. Please come join in the fun - help us laugh, educate folks, drink lemonade, check out the other wonderful vendor booths, and pack up. We unpack and set up at 3:00 PM, and start to clean up and put it all away at 8:00 PM. Extra cookies and lemonade are given to our local fire house, but other destinations can be discussed. Feel free to contact me at [email protected]
My son Alex saw the horror in my face when we heard that the chemo, radiation, and clinical trial regimen hadn't done all that we had hoped - our friend Becca's cancer was back, and boy, was it pissed. Please support us in our lofty fundraising goal - cancer research is expensive.
Saturday, June 7th, 2014, was Rebecca's 6th birthday. She wanted to leave her little girl name, Becca, behind once she turned 6. She was not conscious to see it, but she was wrapped in the loving arms of her family as she departed from this world 6 years and 11.5 hours after she entered it. She did not lose her battle with cancer, she kicked it's butt soundly many times over, as is evidenced by the many thousands of lives she touched during her fight. The hope we provide through research will be for other families, but the solidarity and love we share will be for Rebecca's.
Any donations are gratefully accepted and 100% of the money collected is sent to the Foundation (we are absorbing grocery and supply expenses as our own donation), which turns 88.7% of all donated funds into research dollars (see charity navigator.org)
Even more than the funds we raise, we are raising awareness and hope. Everyone who showed up for our first lemonade stand on June 8, 2014 was either a member of our local community or a friend of one of the four families that came together to make this happen. And make no mistake, while I have the honor of speaking for the team, this is SUCH a lovely group effort, with each member of the team, no matter what age, bringing a valuable talent or contribution to this event. I am proud to have been a part of this, and let's keep on going!
