ABOUT THE CHARITY
In 1996, baby Alex was diagnosed with cancer. She didn't live to her 9th birthday, but in her short time, she founded Alex's Lemonade Stand Fund (ALSF) and raised more than $1 million for childhood cancer research. Since 2005, ALSF has raised $100+ million (!).
Alex would be 20 this year. She is an inspiration to me.
ABOUT US
My daughter Aria is also a major inspiration to me. She was diagnosed with leukemia on March 5, 2013, when she was 3. This May, she finally finishes 2+ years of chemotherapy. It wasn't the best way to spend preschool and kindergarten, but she remains sunshiney and goofy.
Thanks to Alex and the donors and scientists and advocates for children's cancer research, Aria has a 90% chance of being cured. Thanks to research, there IS a cure for children's acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Though it surprises people to hear it, we feel really lucky. So in 2013, we started fundraising to help support research for other kinds of pediatric cancer -- the ones for which there's not such a strong cure rate (or no cure at all).
Our first year, we netted $2,700. In 2014, we added another $5,000. This year we aim for $6,000 -- ALSF says that will fund one month of cancer research. And you can help!
