We did it!  You did it!

We had our first ever lemonade stand on Saturday and it was a huge success.  We raised $477 on the day of the stand, so that will add up with all these online donations and we'll all have raised over $1200 to fight pediatric cancer.  We are thrilled.

(You can still donate online if you want to. There is no expiration date.  You can mail in a check or text, too.  Anyway you prefer.)

The foot traffic at the stand was steady and many people who stopped by said they knew of Alex and her story and gave large donations. It was a very warm and sunny day and people were glad to have something sweet and cool to drink.

Barb even shouted and cajoled a cyclist on a training run into the parking lot for a quick pit stop to fill up his water bottle and make a donation!  That's persuasion.

We had so much help with the stand. Thanks to Paige, Daniel and Taylor who helped us set up and take down the stand and poured all the lemonade.  Thanks also to everyone who made signs or let us hang them in your establishment.  It started out just Barbara and Courtney Kelly and turned into a large community effort.  Thanks to everyone in Myersville, MD who promoted us and stopped by.

Even more importantly, thanks to all our donors, who helped us beat our fund rasing goal and are a part of a huge global effort to find a cure for pediatric cancer.

We were just one of hundreds of stands aroudn the country and around the world this weekend.  Stay tuned for the fund rasing total from all of the stands this weekend.

Some of you have asked me about hosting your own stand.  Do it!  It is so easy. ALSF sends you everything you need.  You can hold a stand any time of year.  (Hot chocolate in the winter!)  And, until they find a cure, (or likley lots of separate cures), the money is still needed for research, so there's no reason not to. Let me know if you have any specific questions.
