A group of "aquascapers" in the Delaware Valley area has partnered with Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation to continue the fight that a very brave little girl began only a few years ago in her quest to find a cure for childhood cancer. This dedicated group is very passionate about creating serene and beautiful landscapes through the creation/installation of water features. Water is one of mankind's most precious resources, second only to our children. As a result, we are conducting our second Pond Tour to raise awareness of this most worthy cause, as well as raise funds to help find a cure for Alex's heroes!!! The Tour is appropriately named "Alex's Lemonade Pond Tour...A Pond Tour for the Cure". Alex's Lemonade Pond Tour will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2010 (rain date: Sunday,July 11, 2010). It will be conducted in the Northeastern suburbs of Philadelphia. as well as in South New Jersey. A Pond Tour is a wonderful family event. You will have the opportunity to visit some of the best water features in the Delaware Valley, knowing that your donation will be directed to help our children in need. For details about how you can make a difference, please contact: Al Lentz at 888-PONDSGO (766-3746) or email Al at [email protected]. This year admission to the tour will be complimentary, though we are accepting cash donations and also would appreciate donations of goods or services that we may raffle at our end of day bash. Of course there will also be lemonade for sale at select sites along the route. We appreciate your support. The group conducting the "Tour" consists of Lentzcaping, Inc./Aqua Scapes of the Delaware Valley (Warrington, PA), Aquatic Connections by George (Trevose, PA.), Cedar Run Landscapes (North Wales, PA), James Ponds (Doylestown, PA), and Laurel Oak Garden Center (Marlton, NJ). It'll be a Tour worth taking...for Alex's sake...so, please, come join the fun!!! Thank you.

Hosted by the employees of Cedar Run
More than 13 water features of every style are here to delight you. Multiple cascading streams, ponds, Pondless waterfalls, bubbling rocks, basalt column sets and gracefully cascading urns will keep the visitor entranced. Our multiple features have been developed and fine tuned over the past 5 years to provide a showplace for the builders’ skills. There are up well biofiltration systems, negative edge waterfalls, and other special features too numerous to mention. The landscaping that surrounds the water gardens hints at the origin of Cedar Run as a full service design, installation and landscape maintenance company. Again, look for the theme of the day repeated in the colors of many of the perennials and shrubs that are used. Cedar Run is most proud of the Rainwater Harvesting and re-use system that was created in August of 2008. This system is replete with a natural stone permeable patio that is constructed over a 3000 gallon storage system. A raised, up well biofiltration system is at the headwaters of a 10 foot stream that flows gracefully back down onto the patio, and disappears amongst the stones. If you approach quietly, you may have a chance to enjoy the multiple birds that visit for their drinks and baths. The overflow from the cistern is released into a rain garden that is planted with moisture tolerant native shrubs and perennials. A fire pit, sitting area and wildlife friendly plantings adorn the patio. We are excited to have you here to view this feature, which by accessing the stored rainwater, has reduced our use of public water by over 45%.

As you wander down the driveway towards the rear yard, you will begin to hear the sounds of a more discreet and private water feature. Tucked into a small cove in the rear yard is a single stream Pondless waterfall with lush plantings surrounding. It is enjoyed from the rear porch of the home, and adds a new dimension to the homeowners more private garden space. This feature was also installed with garden and in water lighting in the summer of 2008.
Mr. & Mrs. Scott McFarland
North Wales,
Hosted by the McFarland Family
Please enter the rear yard from the left hand side of the property walking on the lawn. Designed and installed by Cedar Run Landscapes in the fall of 2007, this outdoor entertainment space includes a large paver patio with sitting walls and landscape lighting, along with a lovely ecosystem pond being fed by a waterfall and 10 foot stream. The family spends many hours enjoying their fish as they glide thru the water and hide among the many water plants and rock crevices of the pond. There are many trees, flowering shrubs, perennials and ground covers to enjoy, along with a nice display of annual flowers that fills in gaps in the blossoming of the other plantings. The McFarland’s property shows a good range of the services that Cedar Run provides, including lawn care, garden maintenance, landscape lighting, water feature creation and hardscape installation.
D’Elia Residence
Hosted by Anthony D’Elia
In the front yard of the D’Elia residence enjoy a beautiful 15 foot pondless waterfall that is powered by a 4500 gallon per hour pump that cascades and collects into a 1500 gallon intake reserve. This water feature is not only beautiful to look at, it also provides the peaceful sound of rushing water that not only can be enjoyed by the D’Elia family but also his neighbors.

Owners of James Ponds
You’ll be amazed by what you find here. Nestled in this backyard borough home is a wonderful getaway. Walk across the lawn to find a beautiful 6 x 8 pond tucked into a shady corner just outside the Baker’s family room. This little beauty, surrounded by hosta’s , astilbe, ghost ferns and a selection aquatic plants is just the beginning, continue through the gate to enter a backyard vacation getaway. The pride and joy of this retreat is the 18 x 30 eco system pond with 16 ft stream and waterfall, tucked between the house and pool. The pond also boasts a beautiful bog garden waterfall. Over 45 tons of boulders were used for the pond and garden walls in the creation of this oasis. Be sure to check out the variety of aquatic plantings in the bog and in the pond, from the blooming lilies, the various carnivorous pitcher plants, to the red swamp milkweed (host plant to the monarch butterfly) and much more. You’ll love the way the fish chase you looking for a nibble of food. Don’t miss the small ceramic fountain feature nestled beside the pool. Feel free to have a seat and enjoy a light snack, which will be available while enjoying the garden, which was begun two summers ago. While still in the “infancy” stages this garden has a wide variety of plantings, which will continue to be expanded on. We look forward to inviting you back year after year to see the changes.

You’ll be awed by the dramatic entranceway to this beautiful home. This 15 ft pondless waterfall was installed by James Ponds in June of 2009 and is nestled in amongst mature shrubs and perennials. The challenge her was the steep hillside directly next to their stairs. It was used to the best advantage to create great drops, which create an amazing sound to welcome the Andersons and all their guests. The
At the entrance to the township building is a decorative urn built on “EARTH DAY” 2010. Underneath this beautiful flowing urn is a 250 gallon basin that is used to collect and reuse the rainwater from a 1000 square foot area of shingled roof surface. Not only does it look great at the entrance of this building it truly is an excellent example of sustainable water feature .
Blase Residence
Hosted by Gerry Blasé
This once in-ground swimming pool now transformed into an amazing, fully functional Pondless waterfall completely turned this ho-hum back yard into a private back yard paradise! The Pondless waterfall is powered by 2 pumps that run the waterfall and then split into twin streams rushing along the outside of a main sitting area with fire pit before rejoining into one stream and then crashing into the intake bog . This water feature is perfect for relaxing and entertaining regardless the occasion or time of year!
Noga Residence
Hosted by Rick Noga
This Pond is the perfect pond for any back yard. Set alongside the deck for easy viewing and relaxing and perfect for the kids to play and interact. This pond features an inpond bog and waterfall powered by a 3000 per gallon pump .
Steigerwalt Residence
Hosted by Tim Steigerwalt
In the back yard of the Steigerwalt residence is an awesome Pond with a waterfall, 8 foot stream, and 2 air ratting pumps set right up against the patio. The waterfall is run by a 7500 gallon per hour pump set inside an inpond bog that runs up and out of the biofalls box crashing down back into the pond. Both air ratting pumps also sit inside the inpond bog run by 2000 gallon per hour pumps and not only provide aeration for the pond but also attract the fish to certain areas of the pond for easy viewing and feeding .
Lentzcaping, Inc.
Hosted by Al Lentz, Steve Happ and their employees
Your final destination on our pond tour is Lentzcaping, Inc! Lentzcaping has 10 distinct water features on display for your viewing pleasure, from bubbling urns, to pondless waterfalls to entry level ponds and of course our main attraction pond that hold and filtrates 11,000 gallons of water.
Our main pond not only is beautiful and holds over 100 Kio, it also collects, stores and reuses all the rainwater coming from our main office building. Last year alone, we have collected and reused in excess of 60,000 gallons of rainwater, thanks to our rain exchange system. This pond is constructed for interaction; built with large boulders and rock for easy access and viewing. Please feel free to feed the fish (they will eat right out of your hand) and don’t forget the main patio area, accompanied by a fire pit, fountain rock with permeable pavers and our outdoor kitchen.
NEW JERSEY POND TOUR
Thanks for participating in our 2010 Pond Tour for the Cure. All of the locations you visit are installations by Laurel Oak. Without the graciousness of these homeowners this tour would not be possible. Last year the price of admission was $15 per person; this year it is free. We dropped the cover price this year in lieu of people donating what they would like to. You can make this donation when you arrive back at Laurel Oak for the free BBQ. 100% of the funds we raise go directly to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Between the tour that ran in
Santori residence
For the first stop on the tour this is a great example of how a mature pond truly does get better with age. Walk up the driveway and enter the backyard on the right. Installed in 2002, this 10x15’ pond is situated close to the house between the patio and pool. The purpleleaf plum tree provides a nice anchor to help define the space and hold the viewer’s focus on the pond. As you can see, the pond only helps to enhance the “entertainability” (did I just make that word up?) of this backyard.
Horner residence
WOW! After you pull down the long winding driveway and the view opens up to this custom home you will be thrilled you decided to take this tour! An extremely beautiful property that is stunning as is. Notice the solar power system installed on the detached garage; you will hardly notice the panels on the main house. A walkway leading from the driveway thru an arbor opens up to the view of a 30x15’ pond. Two biological filters are on this beauty, one spilling into a stream and the other a 4’ wide waterfall dropping directly into the pond. Hugging a composite deck, the “walkability” of the surrounding boulders and the bridge make this a highly interactive water feature. Many spectacular koi frolicking about!
Bilello residence
Enter the backyard from the right side and look to your left. Is that pond running underneath the deck? Another great example of why decks, patios and ponds deserve one great big hug! Or rather, they should hug each other. You can sit right on the edge of the deck hanging your feet over the water while you feed the fish. No railing along the side of the pond also allows for an unobstructed view from inside the home as well as sitting at the table on the deck.
This one is huge! Walk up the driveway into the backyard. On one end this 45x25’ feature is fed by a 35’ long stream and the other end by a 4’ wide waterfall. To be enjoyed from the elevated view from the deck or the ground view from the small patio. This property was initially a blank canvas when it all began in 2007. By comparison, look around at the surrounding properties and it is apparent how vital landscaping is for creating your own defined space. Thru the wise vision and care of its owners, you can see how this young backyard paradise will only gain in beauty with each passing year.

Scott Residence
I call this one “Big Dave’s Water World.” Enter on the right side of the house. I won’t even begin to describe the dimensions because you will see it for yourself. This was an engineering feat in design and installation. The low foundation of this house served to be problematic in that their backyard always flooded from the woods. Who would think that by adding a pond close to the house you could eliminate a wet backyard? Well, we did and the backyard is all the more functional and beautiful! Water that formerly ran off the roof into the yard now runs into the pond via rain barrel overflow and another downspout that is filtered. Waterfalls are at opposite ends of the house. A channel of water connects the main waterfall and body of water with the opposite waterfall. The fish race thru the channel to the flat bridge where they are fed regularly. Installed in the fall of 2009, the feature surrounds the paver patio on two sides. You might even catch Kyle snorkeling when you visit!
