Our little buddy, Austin, went to CHOP ER on Thursday, May 24 for vomitting and severe headaches.  After testing showed a mass on his brain, he was admitted to the ICU and scheduled for surgery the next morning.  He was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma on Friday, May 25.  That day he had a tumor removed from his brain.  Shortly after the surgery, he had a shunt placed to relieve the fluid around his brain.  Further tests showed that the cancer has spread to his spine.  He has started chemotherapy and is about 2 weeks into treatment.  He came home for the first time since his diagnosis on June 22.  He has been back to CHOP twice since then for more tests, MRI, bloodwork, etc.  He is slowly coming around and getting a glimmer back in his eyes (and spirit).  He's been a trooper and we have no doubt he's going to beat this disease!

 To Austin and family,

My heart goes out to you. Stay strong, keep the faith, and positivity. My husband was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma on February 11, 2008. He is doing well. I will pray for Austin and you, always.

Sincerely,

Shannon DiPietro
