It was hot and humid in Dublin this weekend — the kind of weather that makes a cup of hand-squeezed lemonade even more refreshing.

About 30 Dublin-area kids gathered on Saturday and Sunday afternoon to raise money for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood, a national organization based in the Philadelphia area that funds pediatric cancer research.

The organization is named after Alexandra Scott, who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma before her first birthday and died at the age of 8 in 2004. Groups can set up lemonade stands anywhere and donate the money they earn to the organization.

The Dublin stand, at the corner of Brandonway Drive and Wellston Court, was organized for a second year in a row by Liz Johnson and her son, Tyler. Liz Johnson said that Tyler, a lanky teenager, was insistent on having a lemonade stand last year, but she didn’t think it would have the same appeal that it did when he was selling lemonade at the age of 6.
