ALEX’S LEMONADE STAND FOUNDATION HOSTS 7TH ANNUAL LEMON RUN PHILADELPHIA 5K, SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2015

Families of childhood cancer fighters, friends, supporters and athletes come together for athletic event

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation will host The Lemon Run Philadelphia 5K Run/Walk and Kids’ Dash, presented by Volvo, on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at 8am, at Memorial Hall in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park. The event will bring athletes of all calibers together to support the battle against childhood cancer. Day of registration will be available at the event for $45 per runner, $35 per walker and $15 per child (ages 10 and under).

Among the nearly 3,000 participants will be several teams honoring local children and families affected by childhood cancer including Austin’s Avengers who participate in memory of Austin J. Burke, who lost his life to medulloblastoma in August 2012 at the age of 4; Team Gavin Strong who will participate in memory of Gavin Morris who passed away at 4 years old from neuroblastoma; and Xander’s Force participating in honor of Xander Nobles who battled rhabdomyosarcoma.

Team Asher is new this year, led by PwC employees in memory of Asher Brody who passed away at 16 months old last November from acute megakaryoblastic leukemia. The team has over 130 runners and has raised over $45,000 for the cause. Asher’s parents Megan and Tyler are passionate about the race and ALSF because “so much needs to be done to advance research and quality of life for children in treatment.”

Awards will be given to the fastest male and female runners in various categories, and prizes will be awarded to the top team fundraisers.
