From July 29-August 1, more than 50 high school sophomores and juniors from across the country descended upon Villanova University not for a campus tour, but to learn key leadership skills and how to become ambassadors in their own communities for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. As part of ALSF’s 2013 Student Leadership Academy, these teens from across the country worked on a variety of projects including hosting their own lemonade stand and creating a community outreach idea to bring back to their hometown and schools.
The Leadership Academy class of 2013 received straight “A’s” in our books showing an enormous amount of energy, creativity and inspiration!
- “Alex Idol”, a competition for ambassadors to share their ideas for integration of ALSF into their communities through singing, cooking, fashion and other exciting endeavors. (Check out the video of one performance above)
- Team building activities centered on specific components of leadership.
- Holding lemonade stands that, despite torrential downpours, raised more than $1600 in two hours.
- Guest speakers who were directly impacted by childhood cancer, including Liz and Jay Scott, Alex’s parents
