Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation hosted its annual Student Leadership Academy at Villanova University from July 27-30, 2015. There were 57 young men and women selected from among the national application pool, representing 14 states. Students learned skills to become effective advocates and leaders, and to bring Alex's story and the mission of ALSF back to their home communities.
One of the most popular events during the week was the lemonade stand competition where the 2015 cohort and returning alumni operated competing stands for the day to raise money for ALSF. This year they raised $9,520.
According to one participant,“The ALSF Student Leadership Academy taught us that we have the ability to impact the community and really, the lives of millions. We will take the lessons Alex taught and her mission home with us to our communities for a better world.”
The Student Leadership Academy program is open to rising high school juniors and seniors. The program, lodging and meals are provided free of charge to accepted students (students must arrange their own transportation to Philadelphia). The program takes place over four days in July. Applications for the program will be available in early spring. Please sign up to be notified when applications become available.
