Wow, it's already over! This weekend went by in the blink of an eye and was better then we ever expected. Though we we're short of our goal by a few hundred we raised a litte over $2400! The weekend was full of great laughs, treasured memories, some tears, great learing experiences, and much more! By far, and i belive i speak for everyone when i say this, it was one of the most incredible weekends of our lives.
Friday was so amazing! We raised $734 by selling and recieving donations. We also recieved very much publicity. The Leaf Chronicle Newspaper came out and did an article on us, which got us many people on Saturday; Clarksvillenow.com did a video interview (featuring Cate Nelson and Autumn Brown) and came out and took pictures of our event; and Clarksvilleonline.com did an article about our event. All three of these things together got us major publicity and gained us many customers. We could not thank these people enough for what they have done for us and for children with cancer!
Saturday was also a very awesome day! On Saturday, we raised $669! However, we could not have done this without the help of our amazing friends! We had many of our friends come out and support us by helping out. They did simple tasks like running errands, dealing with customers, and holding posters out by the road. They put up with a lot of our yelling and fussing about every little tiny thing all weekend, and they took it with a smile on their faces. They have no clue how grateful we are to have them as a part of our lives and our lemonade stand. They are all such great people with such caring hearts who are willing to do whatever whenever. They may not realize it, but they made a huge impact on us, the community, and children all around. God was definitely at work in all of their (and our) lives this weekend.
Today, Sunday, was the most incredible day of all. Friday and Saturday put together, we raised $1403. By this time we knew we would not make our goal, and we're just hoping that we could make a little bit over what we did last year. To our amazement, we raised a little over $1000 in just one day. Even though we still did not make our goal, we beat our total from last year, and we raised a whole bunch of money in just one day! We couldn't thank you guys enough. This day, and the whole weekend, was not us. It was everyone in our community who stepped up and said "I am going to make a difference." That you did! We thank each and every one of you from the person who just gave 9 cents to the person who donated one hundred dollars. Every single bit of it made a huge difference in the lives of many.
This weekend, we also learned a lot about some of the people in our city. We had about five or more different people come to our stand this weekend and give us a little insight into their lives. Each of them told us how they had lost their son or daughter in the battle against cancer. It brought many tears upon us to see the hurt in their faces but the caring and need in their heart to give to other children when they had lost their own. It was a true reminder of why we were doing this whole thing. Our prayers very quickly went out to each of these families. Sunday, we met a woman named Amy Deaner. She came out to our stand and gave us a very generous donation and told us a little bit about her life as of right now. She lives right down the road of where we were holding the stand and has an eight-year-old daughter who, i belive she told us, has the same cancer as Alex Scott did, neuroblastoma. Which basically means that she has a brain tumor. At the moment We have high hopes for her daughter, Abbie, and all of our prayers are going out to this wonderful little girl. However, at the moment she isn't doing so well and could really use your prayers as well. We know God does everything for a reason, and he always has a plan. That cannot be any different in your life Abbie, have faith. We know God is there in your life. This next story is just proof that God does creats miracles. We met an older woman this weekend who also gave us a generous donation. She told us about her grandson who was diagnosed with cancer when he was nine. Quite a few times the doctor told his family that he probably was not going to make it much longer. However, it has now been a few years past that. This little boy is now a young man, a sophmore in college. He told his grandmother, "Something great happened to me. I want to give back to the world now." He is now in medical school to become a doctor and help other people. God preforms miracles.
Thank you all for what you have done this weekend. We know that the money we have raised is going to make a huge impact in our world. We couldn't have done it without you. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for the $2400+ you have raised this weekend.
