Message from Natalie’s Parents Julie and Ross Eckbold.
We are participating in the Alex’s Lemonade Stand End to Childhood Cancer Walk/Run in Honor Natalie Eckbold who is the daughter of a friend/coworker of ours . Just a few days after Christmas 2019, Natalie was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma. She went through nearly a year of treatment including chemotherapy and 28 sessions of proton therapy radiation with general anesthesia each day. We are forever grateful to her amazing team at CHOP because she has been in remission since November 2020. Natalie will continue to have scans and be monitored for recurrence until she hits the 5 year cancer-free mark where she will then be transitioned to the survivor clinic. We are grateful for how far Natalie has come since completing her treatment. Our days are full of so much more fun, but there are still some tough days. Scan days are hard and now due to her cancer treatment, she has frequent follow ups with multiple specialists to monitor for long term side effects from chemotherapy and radiation.
We will continue to participate in the Alex’s Lemonade Stand End to Childhood Cancer fight for Natalie. We will continue to fight for her friends that she has made during this process, some that are still currently in treatment. We will continue this work in hopes of helping kids who may be diagnosed in the future. Progress is being made everyday due to the dedication of researchers at Cancer Center at CHOP and all around the world, but it isn't enough until no kids are lost to cancer. We will always fight to do better. We will fight to have more survivors and we will push for better treatment options.
We hope you can help us support this cause that means so much to us. Anything at all helps with the goal of creating a future without cancer.
