EC Pre-K 3 & 4, Readiness, Core I and Core II students at Southwest Elementary in Clemmons, NC are raising money for the 9th Annual VIRTUAL Alex's Lemonade Stand to help children who have cancer! We need your help! Did you know over the last 8 years Southwest has raised over $43,084 to support Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation with pediatric cancer research?

This has been a wonderful cause for all of our students to support over the years, helping others because "we all need help sometimes" and funding pediatric cancer research! Students can work on these skills at home and virtually participate this year: sequencing the steps to make the lemonade, practicing addition and subtraction with money, learning how to use appropriate social skills such as eye contact while selling the lemonade to family members and friends safely at home. COMMUNITY, CHARACTER and COMMUNICATION remain our three goals.

Save the date for Thursday, June 11 for the 9th Annual Alex's Lemonade Stand. This year the stand will be VIRTUAL. This means that students will be selling lemonade at home to their families while working on communication, math, language and social skills and with a parent's help the student can sell lemonade online to friends and family, post pictures or videos to share and show support for this event. The same functional communication goals we have had each of the 8 previous years still stand but this year we will host stands at home. We provide each EC student in PK-3, PK-4, Readiness, Core 1 and Core 2 with a new Alex's Lemonade Stand T-shirt, communication exchange page, cups, lemonade, and a few goodies and a letter explaining to each parent the changes for this year in hopes they will participate at home virtually. Students in EC or Regular Education who want to participate virtually with their family at home now have an option. Pictures and videos would be great to document this process while showing support for our school and can be sent in to [email protected] or [email protected]

Money raised via direct donations to this page, t-shirts and by selling a few silent auction items acquired before COVID-19 on the PTA Facebook page will support pediatric cancer research through Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. As a school and EC program, we continue to do good, helping others one cup at a time, while encouraging family participation and communication at home. This 9th Annual Virtual Alex's Lemonade Stand event is for all students who attend Southwest Elementary. Please, feel free to invite your friends, family, and community to participate and help us!
