About Charlie Onne

Charlie was diagnosed with a Stage 3 Wilm’s Tumor in May of 2024. His tumor was the size of a mini football, completely encased his right kidney and extended to his bladder. 

Charlie had a total nephrectomy in June 2024 and completed six months of chemotherapy and radiation. His diagnosis wasn’t straight forward so there were some delays in choosing the right treatment at the onset. He had anesthesia 9 times during treatment- including 6 days in a row for radiation- and received a combination of three chemotherapies that were FDA-approved 60-70 years ago and can have devastating life-long side effects.
 

While we are fortunate for genomic testing and learned that Charlie does have a de novo (new) WT1 mutation, the treatment for Wilm's Tumor remains dated.
 

Charlie is high risk for relapse and other genitourinary cancers. We're hoping this fund will lead to better, safer treatments for Charlie and kids like Charlie.
