Hi there! Thank you SO much for participating in this year's Million Mile! Your efforts are truly appreciated form everyone here at ALSF. Thank you so much for tracking your miles, as well!

When I raised my mileage goal, my heart knew it was still a tad too low. Tonight after it finally stopped raining, I went out for one more quick lap. Finishing this month of prayer & remembrance with 31.86 miles! 3/18 + 6 months since Jake was eternally healed. Not gonna lie, this was one of my shortest walks of the month, but this one hit hard! I see kids every day and think of Jake and how I wish he'd gotten more time. I think of all the milestones his family won't experience together. I think of all the kiddos who left this painful life behind far too soon, but try to remember they're healthier now than they ever could have been here.

When I decided to raise my goal from 18 to 29 miles, I had two warriors in mind. Jake's eternal cancer-freesary is celebrated every month on the 18th, and my daughter's bday is 8/11. She fought through eight years of surgery, along with Jr High bullies and High School stresses. With several cyst recurrences and bone transfers along the way, she had a titanium jaw implanted. Ten years and more recurrences later, she's having the titanium removed, and it feels like we're starting over. Fifth generation of our family to battle Gorlins disease, thanks to the genes from yours truly. And with a recent recurrence myself, there's no end in sight!

Tonight I set out to walk 1.8 miles for Jake but decided to add on 1.1 for Kaitie, too. And in a special God hug, I got home at 11:18, ensuring they were both with me all along.

Tonight was perfect weather for an extended walk, so I took a few more laps than usual around the subdivision. To honor Jake and his eternal healing, I pushed a little further and finished my walk with 3.18 miles. Working extra hours this weekend, but I pray to have some quiet, intentional time on Friday for his six-month cancer-freesary.

Had some time in between shifts today, so I figured I'd get in a walk.

1.8 miles in no shade was a big mistake on my part, but it's nothing in comparison to what these kiddos fight through every day! I'll get in more walks this weekend - at night!
