 Lemonade for Sale

Another rainy day out but it didn't hurt lemonade sales. Tehya held her own stand outside of her church today and made $93.04. Way to go, Tehya! We are so proud of you for volunteering your time on Sunday to help raise money! That is going to help third grade out quite a bit! It looked like you had a good time! Check out her picture in the photo gallery! Only 4 more days until the lemonade war comes to an end!

What did you buy with your birthday money???

I know that when I got birthday checks this year I ran right out to Pottery Barn to splurge on Easter decorating "essentials" or so I thought they were essentials at that point. Sometimes it takes the generous spirit of a child to put into check for us all what the real essentials in life are. Gabriella didn't hesitate for one minute when she decided to spend her birthday money, all $100 of it, on hope. She gave it without a second thought to support a cause that will find a cure for sick kids around the world. As she put it, she has everything she wants and needs but sick children who have cancer need her birthday money more than she does. Her incredible act of kindness and generosity in turn inspired my dad to make a generous donation of his own to our fundraising page. He donated $100 to support me and this project and he wanted to make sure Gabriella knew that the other $100 out of his $200 donation was because of her! She also inspired our principal to match her donation. We are learning over and over again through this contest that one person really can make a big impact on the lives of others. Way to go, Gabriella! Your kind act definitely left a mark on a whole lot of people that will not soon be forgotten! Thank you for reminding us all how to think with our hearts.

Gabriella, we are so very proud of you and your generous heart!!! You are truly an inspiration to us, you compassion to give your birthday money up in order to help sick boys and girls is an amazing quality and one that we hope you will always have!!! We love you baby!!!

Rain, Rain, Go Away! We Need to Sell Lemonade Today!!

The weather forecast was not looking very pretty for our big lemonade stand at Publix Supermarket on Saturday but that did not get us down. Rain or shine we were planning to be there to raise money. Since  it was a very dreary day we didn't sell very much lemonade but boy did we do well when it came to collecting donations. We are in awe of how people just opened their wallets and their hearts to support these kids in their efforts yesterday. We heard many stories from all kinds of people whose lives have been touched by cancer, many thank yous for the good work that we were doing, and many many words of encouragement!

While the kids were a little shy to ask people to chip in and help out at first, it did not take long before they were in the swing of it, asking people to help out for a cause that they are so committed to. Boys and girls, your parents and your teachers are so very proud of how excited and committed you have been to this cause and fundraiser. You are an inspiration to all of us and are doing an incredible job! Thank you very much to everyone who came out to support us at the stand and to those of you who donated online because you were not able to attend.  We will wait until Monday to announce the grand total after we share it with the kids on the morning news but I will tell you that you will be very impressed!! :) We still can't believe it! Thank you everyone for your generosity. Please continue to help us spread the word. We have one week left and need your help!! Check out the photo gallery to see some new pictures from the event.

We are very proud of our pelican Isabella DiGrigoi; We are sending our donation with Love:)

Update! Check Out the Donor List!

Boys and girls, news of your kind hearts and generosity made it all the way to North Carolina. Valarie Zeithaml was so proud of your hard work and efforts that she decided to do something equally as kind and generous by matching all of the donations we have received so far. Way to go Aunt Val, you are amazing!!

Everyone is Chipping In!

I just logged onto our fundraising page to find that Elaina's tooth fairy donated $100 because she was so proud of her! It just goes to show that when you do good things, people notice!!

Another Day and Another Inspiring Pelican Named Olivia

Olivia Wylie immediately jumped to action when we announced "The Great Lemonade War." She brought in an incredible donation of $53.00 which she had been saving in her piggybank. She had earned this from her allowance and a Christmas gift from her grandma. Way to go Olivia, YOU ROCK! :)

Another Pelican Doing Her Part

Last Friday a first grader named Elaina Loden made a very generous donation to "The Great Lemonade War" fundraiser. She recently lost both of her front teeth, she looks adorable by the way, and decided to donate the money that the tooth fairy left her to "help sick kids get better", as she put it! We are inspired by your generous spirit, Elaina! We are very proud of you and know that your parents are also! Check out her toothless smile with her donation in the photo gallery.

I forgot to mention that Elaina's good deed inspired her teacher, Mrs. Legried, to donate $10 in her honor as well as our principal, Ms Daniel!

Tell Elaina I will be in soon to donate in her name

We are so proud of one of our students, Christian Rinaldi, who held his very own stand today with the help of his sister Victoria and his cousins! They are donating the profits of their stand to Poinciana's fundraising efforts in "The Great Lemonade War" fundraiser! Way to go, Christian! Your teachers are so so proud of you! Keep up the good work!
