Sometimes a single conversation can stay with you forever.

Last year around the 4th of July, while spending time with friends, we met Tammy, a home nurse caring for a friend’s father. During our conversations, she shared Randy’s story with us and told us about her mission to keep his legacy alive through fundraising efforts with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.

Although we never had the chance to personally know Randy, hearing his story made it easy to understand how special he was. The way Tammy spoke about him, his personality, strength, humor, and the impact he had on everyone around him was something that stuck with us long after that conversation ended.

We talked then about finding a way to work together through our food truck to help support the cause, but life and timing never allowed us to make it happen. Once we opened Triple Threat Kitchen, we knew this was our opportunity to finally help Tammy while contributing to something much bigger than ourselves.

The timing of all of this makes the next few months especially meaningful. May is Brain Tumor Awareness Month. June is Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation’s “Lemonade Days” month dedicated to raising funds and awareness for childhood cancer research. And as the Swartz Creek Class of 2026 finishes its final week of school and prepares for graduation, Randy should have been walking across that stage alongside his classmates. Instead, July marks the anniversary of the legacy he left behind, one that continues to inspire others and remind us how precious life truly is.

In effort to expand our reach with our campaign we have started Petty Betty's Lemonade Stand selling fresh squeezed lemonades.  Through our When Life Give Your Lemons initiative we will be donating $1 of every lemonade sold from our Petty Betty's, our food truck Triple Threat Mobile Eatery and our take out restaurant Triple Threat Kitchen to Alex's Lemonade Stand in Randy's name to support pediatric cancer research.

This is only the beginning. Over the next several months, we’ll continue finding ways to honor Randy’s legacy, raise awareness, and support the fight against pediatric cancer.
