Join the UCLA Nano Transformers (aka the Jonas Lab @ UCLA): Help Us Conquer Childhood Cancer!
Every day, nearly 800 children around the world receive a devastating cancer diagnosis. That’s 300,000 precious lives upended every single year.
Yet, despite these heartbreaking numbers, childhood cancer research is vastly and consistently underfunded—receiving less than 4% of the federal government's total cancer research budget.
We refuse to accept that 4% is enough. And we need your help to change it.
Groundbreaking Science, Driven by Hope
The UCLA Nano Transformers team was founded by Dr. Steven Jonas, an Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF)-supported investigator, pediatric oncologist, and physician-scientist at UCLA.
In our lab, we aren't just researching; we are innovating. Our diverse team of physicians, engineers, chemists, and patient advocates develops cutting-edge, nanometer-scale technologies designed to accelerate the discovery and increase the accessibility of personalized, precision cancer therapies. We are working tirelessly to bring safer, faster, and more effective treatments directly to the children who need them most.
Celebrating Our Growing Impact!
Our mission is gaining momentum! We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Ruby Sims from our lab has just been awarded a prestigious ALSF Young Investigator Award. Congratulations, Ruby! This award ensures that the next generation of brilliant minds stays focused on saving children's lives.
How You Can Move the Needle This September
September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, and we are taking on the ALSF Million Miles challenge. We want you on our team.
Whether you are running to honor a loved one, walking for awareness, or donating to fuel our next medical breakthrough, your support matters. Here is how you can make a difference today:
- Go the Distance: Click [Join] to log your miles (running, walking, or biking) with us this September.
- Fuel the Research: Click [Donate] to make a direct, tax-deductible contribution or pledge to support our UCLA research team.
Every dollar raised and every mile logged brings us one step closer to safer treatments and cures. Let’s reach one million miles—and a cancer-free future—together!
