Every year, an estimated 263,000 new cases of cancer affect children under the age of 20 worldwide. That's 720 new kids affected every day. And yet, childhood cancer is vastly and consistently underfunded. Less than 5% of the federal government's total funding for cancer research is dedicated to childhood cancers each year.

Childhood cancer occurs regularly, randomly and spares no ethnic group, socioeconomic class, or geographic region.

In the United States, the incidence of cancer among adolescents and young adults is increasing at a greater rate than any other age group, except those over 65 years.

RAINBOWRUNS is lead by the Developmental Therapeutics Program at Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital.  This program provides children, adolescents, and young adults with relapsed and refractory cancers access to new therapies.
