Dear Friends, Did you know that every year over 200,000 children worldwide are diagnosed with a form of childhood cancer? I cannot ignore this shocking statistic impacting the youth of our country and world wide, and I certainly hope that you won’t either. June 26. 2010, I’ll spend the day (10am-5pm) selling lemonade at the Parkman Bandstand located in Boston Common hosting an Alex’s Lemonade Stand to fight against childhood cancer. My goal is to raise $3,000.00 in donations to the cause. In addition to having lemonade we will have a lemon bake sale (provided by local bakers and Starbucks Coffee) and a silent auction. I have been spending the last few months preparing for this stand (with the help of my Mother), it is the biggest challenge I have ever faced – the challenge of raising awareness on how serious this epidemic of childhood cancer really is (for every $1.00 spent on breast cancer awareness less than 30 cents is spent on childhood cancer). All money raised will go to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer, a 501(c)3 public charity, to fund childhood cancer research projects. The mission of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is to raise funds and awareness of childhood cancer causes, primarily to support research into new cures and treatments; to encourage and educate others, especially children, to raise money for childhood cancer by holding their own lemonade stand; and to expedite the process of finding new cures and bringing them to children with cancer now.
