About Charley Poole Sr.
Charley was born and raised in Bristol, CT, and upon retirement moved to Vero Beach, FL, where he and his wife spent 28 wonderful years. A beloved patriarch, Charley leaves behind his wife of 70 years Lillian, sons Charley Jr. and Tom and their wives Patty and Karen, grandson Charley III and his wife Andrea, and great granddaughters Riley and Nora.
Charley served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and later spent 42 years in the newspaper industry with his hometown Bristol Press. He devoted much of his time and energy to family and youth organizations. An avid golfer, Charley's time in Florida suited this passion and he held the position of Head Starter at the John's Island Country Club of Vero Beach for 21 years.
The family greatly appreciates all of the love and support during this difficult time. In keeping with Charley's devotion to family and youth organizations, we can think of no better way to honor his memory than through support for the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer.
