When
Madelyn "Maddie" Shaw was a no-nonsense, spitfire girl from Binghamton, NY who was diagnosed with Metastatic Ewing's Sarcoma Cancer on December 6, 2013 (when she was 9 years old). Ewing's is a very rare form of cancer that affects 2 in every 1 million children. Maddie and her family sought the best possible treatments and care with her doctors at Upstate Medical in Syracuse, the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Cleveland Clinic, including 2 different clinical trials funded by Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. Sadly, we lost our sweet Madelyn after nearly a 6 year battle on November 10, 2019.
Maddie, if you only realized the impact you had on others - the courage, inspiration, hope and love that you brought people day after day just by living the life that you did on your own terms and in your own way. You were stubborn as hell with a sassy attitude to match. As much as that made us crazy we wouldn't have had it any other way! We love you so much!!
We will continue to raise awareness and raise funds for pediatric cancer research and treatments so that other kids will have a fighting chance to beat this disease.
