On May 2, 2022, Meredith was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. At first devastated and in denial, she rose above and beyond the occasion to show how much grace and strength she never knew she had. After 4 rounds of chemotherapy including the last, most intrusive treatment to prepare her for a life-saving bone marrow transplant (for which her brother was a miraculous 100% match and willing donor!); living in the hospital for a month (or more) at a time; missing the end of her freshman and most of her sophomore years of high school; being isolated from friends and family for a year...I'm so proud to say that she not only made it through, but did so with the best possible attitude.
Last year, we raised over $15,000 for this event, and made it in the nick of time: Mer rang the bell for her walkout from CHOP literally the day before! This year, she'll actually be able to participate and we look forward to celebrating her remission with ALSF!
I've been a supporter of this amazing organization for many years, well before I had a personal connection to the cause. I marvel that I unwittingly and literally paid it forward to my precious baby girl. Our primary oncologist was the recipient of one of the first grants to study bone marrow transplant. She is a wonderful physician and she, along with all of our care team in Philadelphia and King of Prussia helped make our journey the best it could possibly be.
I hope you'll help me continue to help Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation move one step closer to finding a cure for all children with cancer! You can join me by attending my event, or making a donation right to this page. The money you donate will pay for research to find better treatments and cures for childhood cancer. Please help kids and their families by providing desperately needed hope! Thanks for your support!
