Hello and welcome to my fundraising page. First, I want to start out by saying that this page is about more than just raising money; it's about raising awareness and getting involved. I have chosen to run with Alex's Lemonade Stand but please know there are so many other ways to be involved and many wonderful organizations that focus on the patient, their parents, their siblings, research, etc. Whether you choose to donate here or to another organization, donate blood, or say a daily prayer, it ALL matters. It 100% takes a village to fight.
Claire and the Garant family are my "WHY" for running this race. This isn't a new feeling but it now has a whole new meaning. I HATE cancer. I knew I hated it before, but now I know exactly why. It is a thief. It steals from your past, your present, and your future. It uproots your every moment and it doesn't give it back. It has no shame and no mercy. It takes your breath away and doesn't care when you get it back. I hate that it has taken joy and normalcy from people that I love. I hate that my niece and her family HAVE to be brave, that resiliency is NOT an option- it's a requirement. This marathon is nothing like the one that they are running right now, but if this measly 26.2 miles can support organizations, bring people together, raise money, and give them more prayer warriors, then it is worth it.
Donations will go directly to Alex's Lemonade Stand to help support families during their journey through cancer. They will also go towards research to help find the best and safest ways to treat our kiddos. This is huge; this is how we beat it and never let it win. In fact, my niece experienced this firsthand during her course of treatment. Her plan changed because new research showed a better way. The amazing thing is that funds we raise here are able to be allocated directly towards research for pediatric leukemia.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. The world has shown so much good to the Garant family during this time; God is good and people are good. Thank you to all who continue to shine light into their days. God Bless!
