I am honored to be running the Chicago Marathon in support of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a cause that is deeply personal to me.

One of my oldest and dearest friends, Kennedy, was diagnosed with a rare form of spinal cord cancer at a very young age. Despite being given unimaginable odds, she has continued to defy expectations and live life with incredible strength, resilience, and optimism. Through her involvement with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, I have seen firsthand the impact that this organization has on children and families facing childhood cancer.

Kennedy’s journey has shaped the way I view challenges, gratitude, and perseverance. She has taught me that strength is not just about overcoming obstacles, but about continuing to find joy, hope, thrill, and purpose in the face of them. Watching her navigate life with courage and determination has been one of the greatest inspirations in my own life.

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Kennedy’s cancer returned around the same time my college field hockey season was canceled. Wanting to do something meaningful during such a difficult time, I rallied my teammates to participate in Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation’s Million Mile fundraiser throughout the month of September, Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Together, we ran miles and raised awareness for children battling cancer and their families. What started as a way to honor Kennedy and honor kids fighting childhood cancer unexpectedly sparked my own passion for running - a passion that has since grown into marathon running and fundraising for causes deeply close to my heart.

As I take on the challenge of the Chicago Marathon, I am running in honor of Kennedy and every child and family affected by childhood cancer. Every mile is a tribute to their resilience, courage, and determination. I hope to raise funds and awareness to support the critical research, treatments, and family services that Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation provides. Running Chicago is an incredible opportunity, but the true purpose behind this journey is helping ensure that more children and families have hope, support, and the chance for a brighter future.
