Zarah Rigby and Zara Wilson, two first grade students in Mrs. Seymour's class at Summit Academy, thought it would be a great idea to have a lemonade stand and bike wash to raise money for children who didn't have a mommy or daddy- an idea first hatched during their time together at summer camp. At first, Zara W. was going to find the children and Zarah R.'s job was to find the parents! Their goal, was to ensure that all children in the world had a loving family that they could call their own- an achievable goal in the eyes of a child. After viewing an Alex's Lemonade Stand video with her Mom, Zara W. thought that the money from the lemonade stand could also help children who were sick. After talking the idea over with Zarah R., the two decided that the money raised from their first ever lemonade stand would be donated to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.
In an effort to support the girls' effort, the moms of Zarah and Zara agreed to help the two six-year olds organize the first ever Alex's Lemonade Stand to be held at Summit Academy on Friday, September 14th by helping the girls make all of the lemonade. All money raised will be donated to the foundation to help in the fight against childhood cancer. For Zara and Zarah, this lemonade stand is most important because it allows them to help other children in need. It is their hope that through this lemonade stand they are able to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
