In February 2023, just three days after my older sister Maddie’s 22nd birthday, she was diagnosed with grade IV midline diffuse glioma—a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. Over the next 16 months, Maddie bravely faced multiple surgeries, rounds of radiation and chemotherapy, Avastin treatments, and clinical trials. Despite her extraordinary strength and unwavering spirit, Maddie passed away on June 17th, 2024.

Maddie was everything you could hope for in a person—smart, caring, loyal, and endlessly kind. She graduated as salutatorian of Corcoran High School and went on to graduate summa cum laude from Union College, where she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and several other honor societies. She had dreams of pursuing a master’s degree in Library Sciences at Syracuse University. Her life was full of promise, and her light continues to inspire all who knew her.
