I'm holding a fundraiser to help Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation move one step closer to finding a cure for all children with cancer! You can join me by helping me plan this event, attending my event, or making a donation right to this page. The money you donate will pay for research to find better treatments and cures for childhood cancer.
This year's stand is dedicated to the memory of my dear cousin's husband, Jim Boukas. Jim was part of the music scene in Chicago for the past twenty years. He had his own business doing sound for bands and events. But his main projects were his bands - Paradise Waits, a Grateful Dead cover band; the Grateful String Band (Grateful Dead Music done bluegrass style); the Vasoconstrictors (Phish and Beatles cover band) and Tom Thumb's band (Bob Dylan cover band). He had published his first original album, The Northbound Train, and was working on a second.
People remember Jim for his humor and easy-going personality as well as his dedication to playing and sharing music. In addition to his business and his bands, he also gave lessons in guitar, voice and piano. He was first diagnosed with cancer in 2019, fighting it again and again until two days before his 46th birthday. He died in April of this year and is grately missed by all who knew him.
His musician friends and family will be gathering for a musical memorial on June 12, but events in his honor have already started happening and will continue, some yearly. Please join us in memoriam of Jim and all who have been affected by cancer.
Thanks for your support!
