Zoe has been an advocate for childhood cancer for many years, and has an active Instagram page: time_to_fight_cancer and Twitter account: @EndChildCancer. She became interested in helping to get more funding for childhood cancer several years ago after meeting her good friend, Jacob. Jacob was diagnosed with JPA (juvenile pilocytic astrocytoma) when he was only 16 months old, and had to undergo 65 weeks of chemotherapy. Today, there is no cure for JPA, and Jacob, now 12, requires yearly MRI's to monitor the tumor. When Zoe learned that only 4-6% of all cancer research funding goes towards childhood cancers, she knew she wanted to do more. She’s educated many people, both children and adults about the need for more funding for childhood cancers and has encouraged people to donate to organizations like Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. When Zoe grows up, she either wants to become a doctor and help find a cure, or work with people who have physical disabilities. Last year, Zoe held her first Alex's Lemonade Stand in downtown Campbell Ca, raising $1075 for cancer research. This year, her goal is $1500.
