FAQ

Who can participate?

Anyone! Whether you are a new player or a pro, your accomplishments playing the game you love will bring research dollars and hope to thousands of kids and their families.

What is a Gamer for Kids with Cancer?

A Gamer for Kids with Cancer dedicates their game time to supporting childhood cancer research. Friends, family and viewers can make donations through a personal Tiltify page or ALSF fundraising page towards a player’s accomplishments. Gamers play the game they love, share their ALSF inspiration with others and raise funds for childhood cancer to bring potentially lifesaving treatment options to kids waiting for a cure.

Do I need to play a specific game?

You can play whatever game you choose!

How do I raise money during this event?

Set up your stream on Tiltify and select Alex’s Lemonade Stand to be your recipient. In case you want to accept donations outside of Tiltify or don’t plan on streaming, you can also create a donation page on our Gamers for Kids with Cancer platform directly on the ALSF website.

Are there age restrictions to participate?

There are no age restrictions, however we ask that younger players have a parent or guardian’s permission before registering.

What if I don’t want to stream?

No problem! You can still register an event page on our Gamers for Kids with Cancer platform and play the game of your choice while supporting the cause. You can register here.

How do I fundraise while gaming?

If you are streaming your game, friends, family and community can make a one-time donation on Tiltify, or to your ALSF fundraising page. If you choose not to stream, a one time donation or pledge can be made on your ALSF fundraising page.

How does pledging work?

Pledge donations on the ALSF website are based on your accomplishments. For example: $2 per point x 50 points = $100 to research. As you game, or after your event, update your stats on the ALSF website to finalize pledge donations.

What time is the event?

You can participate at any time over the 72 hours of the Stream-a-thon.

How can I promote my stream?

We will provide a social media toolkit to help you promote your fundraiser on your social channels. We also offer PR support to help spread the word.
