My name is Max and I was diagnosed with leukemia in 2014. Soon afterwards, my brother and I decided to hold our first lemonade stand for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. We knew we wanted to do something to help kids with cancer.

Our family and the local community helped us with our stand which was held outside of our elementary school. We sold lemonade, cereal treats and snow cones. Last year, we added spin art and invited a local fire truck came to our stand. We were so lucky because the firemen turned on the hose which really cooled us off with the awesome spray. It was really fun. This year, we hope to add a new surprise!

We love hanging out with our friends and neighbors and especially making snow cones for them. We feel proud to tell our friends and neighbors our story about surviving leukemia. We also feel good about being able to raise so much money for cancer research. We like that we are helping to raise awareness about Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and the great things they are doing to help kids.

Max’s Tip: We always make signs and put them up in our neighborhood including signs by the road on the way to our stand. On the day of the stand, it is important to use a table to set everything up. We like to keep our lemonade in big coolers, but transfer it to clear drink dispensers on the table—with lots of sliced lemons. Some of our friends stand by the road with signs to encourage people to stop by. It also is helpful to use balloons and/or a megaphone to help with getting people’s attention.
