Every year, 10-year-old Mario Carpino of Swedesboro, New Jersey – who was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer at age 4 – looks forward to running his annual lemonade stand to raise money for kids' cancer research. But this year's event surpassed his wildest dreams when his favorite rock star, fellow Jersey boy Jon Bon Jovi, made a surprise appearance to show his support.
Before dying of cancer at age 8, Alexandra Scott started a lemonade stand that today has become an international movement to put an end to the disease. Her mom Liz, along with Bridget Smith, a 10-year-old cancer survivor, and Bridget’s mom, Marg, join TODAY to talk about National Lemonade Days and Alex’s work.

National Lemonade Days is a three-day national event started in 2004 by Alexandra “Alex” Scott. She had been diagnosed at age 1 with neuroblastoma, a pediatric cancer.
To join the battle against childhood cancer, 11-year-old Alicia Joy Volinski will host an Alex’s Lemonade Stand on June 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Los Serranos Golf and Country Club, 15656 Yorba Ave., Chino Hills.

The Stepping Stones program at the SouthWest Metro Educational Cooperative is manning a lemonade stand for the third year in a row. Students are selling drinks from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday at 401 E. 4th St. in Chaska.

Elliot Cox may only be 6 years old, but he has big dreams to one day be the youngest winner of the Indy 500.
"He said God made him to be a race car driver and I guess who am I to argue with that," his mom Amanda Cox said.
