The phone lines were blowing up at the 13th Annual CBS3 Alex Scott: A Stand For Hope Telethon! Volunteers were hard at work answering calls, and at the end of the day, everyone’s generosity helped to raise nearly $7 million for better and safer treatments for kids battling cancer.
The CBS 3 on-air personalities kept the exciting day moving as they talked with Liz and Jay Scott, played clips from Alex Scott: A Stand For Hope and interviewed families affected by childhood cancer. Viewers heard from the family of 1-year-old Vincent, who is waiting for the scientific breakthrough that will cure AT/RT, one of the most aggressive types of pediatric brain cancers. Everyone also witnessed the impact of the research funded that saved 5-year-old Philip’s life.
Special thanks to the amazing volunteers who monitored the phones and to everyone who donated to continue the fight against childhood cancer. To see behind-the-scenes photos from the event, check out the ALSF Facebook album.
