Elsevier’s lemonade roots stretch way back, and this year will be the company’s 13th annual stand in Philadelphia! Every year their “lemonade brigade” committee plans the event and bring new ideas to the table, including their yearly lemon-themed art auction. The company helps both researchers and clinicians treat and cure diseases so the cause is close to all of their employee’s work.

Their outdoor party is expansive and features over 40 volunteers who help organize the festivities in the courtyard at their office building. Between the committee, volunteers and devoted employees, Elsevier’s success comes from their committed planning several months in advance. Plus, every donation they raise is matched by Elsevier. No matter the year, they remain enthusiastic about driving forward towards a cure for childhood cancer.

“Over the years, people have been so generous with their time and talents. We are always surprised when someone brings a new idea to help us up our game. For example, last year, a woman who knits donated "care kits" - for every $5 donation, she made a kit for a child at CHOP,” said Theresa Dudas, an Elsevier employee.

Theresa’s Tip to Stand Hosts: Planning is key. We usually prepare for about 3-4 months ahead of our stand and you should encourage all employees to share the fundraising page with friends, family and colleagues in other company offices.
