About Flashes of Hope

Founded in 2001 by the parents of a child with cancer, Flashes of Hope brightens the lives of children with cancer through a national photography program and by investing in pediatric cancer research.

Flashes of Hope has partnered with over 70 pediatric hospitals and dozens of summer camps for children with cancer; presenting free photo packages to over 85,000 young patients and their families.

Realizing that for some families the portraits were the last ones they had of their child, Flashes of Hope began funding research to provide improved health outcomes for pediatric cancer patients. Since 2009, we have raised over $10 million for research.

About the partnership

A message from Flashes of Hope Founders:

After careful consideration, we have decided to merge Flashes of Hope into ALSF.  2020 was a difficult year for the entire pediatric cancer community. COVID restrictions made it impossible to run our photography program or hold fundraising events to raise money for research. While we were able to send our Happy Packs to more than 1800 kids in the hospital, it’s not enough to sustain a national organization.

Going forward, the ALSF staff will manage the photography program when hospitals and camps once again allow outside volunteers. We don’t know when it will be resumed but we are confident that ALSF will do everything possible to make it a success.

When we founded Flashes of Hope twenty years ago, we couldn’t have imagined that we would provide free portraits to 85,000 children and raise 10-million dollars for children’s cancer research.

The success of our simple idea is thanks to the support of thousands of volunteers and donors. We are truly appreciative of your commitment and extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you.

We hope you will consider supporting Alex’s Lemonade Stand and all the incredible work they do for children with cancer.

With sincere appreciation,
Kip and Allison Clarke
