His name was Edwin M. Matos 3rd. He came to us on 9/4/88 and we lost him on 12/3/02 to leukemia, but his life story was a good one. Eddie was a true blessing from God and as you read this I would like to share a little about our angel, when he was young we knew he was going to be the class clown who would keep everyone laughing as he did us, he was always joking around and smiling but then his smile was slowly fading away. He had to fight cancer it was the battle for his life after 2 years of fighting a brave fight Eddie told his mom he was tired of fighting but he would continue if she wanted him to. Sadly, soon after our angel, our laughter and his wonderful smile was taken into God’s hands. Eddie you are loved and missed; gone but never forgotten. Because of this our family chose to host an Alex’s Lemonade Stand in his memory and for those who still fight the toughest fight of their lives and for those who love and care for them. Eddie fell ill around the time we first saw Alex Scott on TV in Philly and we knew we must join the cause.

A Poem by Angelina Matos, Eddie’s Sister:

Hero
My brother is my angel.
He is my hero.
He is like my knight in armor.
He shines like the sun so brightly.
He keeps me calm from heaven.
He is like my God.
He is the star of my life, the moon in my eyes.
He is the man who never spoke a lie.
He keeps me up, making me tough.
The one I love, sweet as a dove.
