When Chelsea was 2-years-old she woke up screaming in pain and then went into a coma. Diagnosed that night with a brain tumor, she had an 8-hour surgery then many other surgeries, chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. Because of the treatments she has hearing loss, had to have pins put in her hips, and has learning disabilities. But, that has never stopped her. She is the most devoted loving daughter, sister and friend. What takes most people a few hours to learn takes Chelsea ten times as long, but she never ever gives up. She puts 100% into everything she does and does not stop trying until she has accomplished what she needs to do. She still, 17 years later, gets follow-up tests and struggles with school work, but she is dedicated to getting into college and becoming a marine biologist. She is going to be a senior in school and looks forward to the future.  She is a hero because she always puts other people first. Despite her struggles, she is an outgoing, energetic, determined young lady. She has had many surgeries over the years due to her tumor and never complains. She is an inspiration to others.
