Zoe was diagnosed at the age of 4 with a very rare form of leukemia. She has undergone many rounds of chemotherapy, many spinal taps and bone marrow aspirates. The type of cancer Zoe has does not have a cure! Zoe has been going through treatment for the last 16 months and has another year and a half left. After treatment, she will continue on an oral chemotherapy for the rest of her life. This will hold the chromosome in remission. Before research, her fate would have been death, but because of research they discovered a medication that is going to keep her alive. This is why it is so important to keep organizations like Alex's Lemonade Stand going. Zoe is a character; she loves to sing and dance and thinks she is a pop star. She has more strength and courage than I, and has taught me about trust. She is my hero.
