Bala Cynwyd, PA - The stand that started it all, Alex’s “Original” Lemonade Stand, returns on Saturday, June 1 from 10 am – 3 pm at Penn Wynne Elementary School in Wynnewood, PA.

Alex’s “Original” Lemonade Stand commemorates its founder Alexandra “Alex” Scott’s first lemonade stand. This event is held every year in June to kick off Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation’s (ALSF) national fundraising event, Lemonade Days (June 1-9, 2019).

Appropriately named, Alex’s “Original” Lemonade Stand, Alex’s friends and family continue to hold her lemonade stand in a carnival-like atmosphere with food, games, crafts, face-painting, music, raffles and (of course) lemonade. The free event is held at Penn Wynne Elementary School which is the school Alex attended. Amidst the fun is a butterfly release at noon to honor and celebrate the lives of all children fighting cancer, as well as those who have lost their life to the disease. Since 2005, the event has raised more than $1 million to support Alex’s vision of better treatments and cures for kids with cancer.

During the event, ALSF will also draw the winner of a Volvo raffle. All proceeds benefit ALSF thanks to founding sponsor, Volvo, who generously donated the Care by Volvo Subscription for this year’s raffle. The subscription includes a two-year lease, maintenance and insurance on the first prize 2019 S60 R-Design and the second prize 2019 XC40 R-Design. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the event up until the drawing at 2 pm. In addition to the raffle, All Access Passes are available for $25 each and cover a t-shirt, food and activities. Alex’s “Original” is presented by Country Time and Volvo.

About Lemonade Days

Lemonade Days began in 2004 when ALSF founder Alexandra “Alex” Scott set her sights on raising $1 million to fight childhood cancer, the disease she had been fighting since she was an infant. Alex invited volunteers to join her in hosting lemonade stands to help achieve her ambitious goal, one dollar and one lemonade stand at a time. With help from these volunteers, Alex would reach her million dollar goal before losing her life to cancer in August 2004. Now every year at the beginning of June, Alex’s mission of raising $1 million returns when supporters everywhere host lemonade stands and events around the country and contribute to a cure during Lemonade Days.

About Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of 4-year-old Alexandra “Alex” Scott, who was fighting cancer and wanted to raise money to find cures for all children with cancer. Her spirit and determination inspired others to support her cause, and when she passed away at the age of 8, she had raised $1 million. Since then, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement. Today, ALSF is one of the leading funders of pediatric cancer research in the U.S. and Canada having raised more than $150 million so far, funding nearly 1,000 research projects and providing programs to families affected by childhood cancer.
