Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation Announces Top Fundraising Teams for Alex’s Million Mile 2016
These top teams also helped Alex’s Million Mile reach 1 million miles for the first time since 2013.
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), a nonprofit dedicated to finding cures for all kids with cancer, proudly recognizes the top fundraisers of Alex’s Million Mile (AMM). Every year during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September, ALSF challenges supporters everywhere to go the distance for AMM.
The top 42 teams being recognized raised $5,000 and above. Of the top 42 teams, 13 were led by childhood cancer families.

Every September, AMM participants collectively run, walk and/or ride one million miles to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer research. In 2016, more than 12,000 participants logged over 1 million miles and raised more than $970,000.
Individuals and teams who participate log miles, with each mile contributing to the collective million miles goal. While logging miles, individuals and teams also raise money through pledges, events and even traditional lemonade stands. Again in 2016, ALSF-funded researchers who led their own teams were able to raise money for their own projects and have up to $25,000 matched by the Foundation. Over 40 researcher-led teams participated in AMM 2016, with 16 being recognized in the top 42.
