Midwest Lemonade Days Returns to Local Hy-Vee Stores June 2 & 3, 2017

Celebrating its 14^th year raising money for childhood cancer research, Midwest Lemonade Days returns Friday, June 2 and Saturday, June 3, 2017 at all Kansas City, Lawrence, Topeka, Manhattan and St. Joseph-area Hy-Vee stores. The Kansas City regional area’s support of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation has been recognized as one of the largest fundraising efforts in the country. Many of the lemonade stands will honor Childhood Cancer Heroes from the region.

In 2004, Mark and Cheryl Mozer’s son Jacob was just 7-years-old and in remission when they first heard about Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and founder Alexandra “Alex” Scott’s effort to raise money for childhood cancer. Later that year, they held their first Alex’s Lemonade Stand at their neighborhood Hy-Vee store in Blue Springs, MO. Since then, their efforts expanded and now include more than 600 volunteers participating in Alex’s Lemonade Stands at all Hy-Vee stores in greater Kansas City, Lawrence, Topeka, Manhattan and St. Joseph areas.  

Since 2004, with Hy-Vee’s support, local volunteers have raised over $1 million during Midwest Lemonade Days. New this year, Tito’s Handmade Vodka is partnering with Hy-Vee to produce a special Alex’s T7 drink, with $1 from proceeds benefiting the Foundation.

Midwest Lemonade Days has funded grants at Children’s Mercy, The University of Kansas Medical Center and Stower’s Institute.
