Striking Out Childhood Cancer Returns October 22, 2017

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation hosts the third annual bowling event to honor local childhood cancer hero C.J. Banaszek and raise funds for research.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), a nonprofit dedicated to finding cures for all kids with cancer, will host the 3rd annual Striking Out Childhood Cancer, presented by Northwestern Mutual, on Sunday, October 22 from 1-3 PM at AMF Boulevard Lanes in Petaluma, CA. The “birthday bowling bash” is a celebration of life and commemorates the birthday of local Childhood Cancer Hero C.J. Banaszek. Dinner and auctions will follow bowling from 3-7 pm.

Remembered as a humorous and hopeful hero, C.J. was diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia at age 11. He possessed the level of strength and positivity that ALSF founder Alexandra “Alex” Scott was also known for. Always fighting his battle with a smile on his face, C.J. endured months of transplants and hospital visits before ultimately losing his life to a fungal infection that he acquired during treatments.

C.J.’s mother, Heather, hopes this event will not only honor the memory of her son, but will also help other children and families by contributing funds to discover better and safer treatments.

Following the bowling bash, a cocktail hour and dinner party—hosted by Lombardi’s Catering, with free refreshments from MillerCoors, Trinchero Family Estates and Bacardi—will take place next door at the Petaluma Veterans Memorial Building. During this time, guests can also participate in fabulous live and silent auctions. To purchase tickets, visit StrikingOutChildhoodCancer.org.

For more information about becoming a sponsor or donating to the auctions, contact Heather Banaszek at [email protected].
