For the 6th year in a row, Tap Cancer Out will raise funds for pediatric cancer research

Philadelphia, PA (May 19, 2023) – Tap Cancer Out (www.TapCancerOut.org), an Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) partner since 2018, donated $250,000 in 2022 and eclipsed $1.8 million in donations made to the national childhood cancer foundation, which is dedicated to raising funds for research into new treatments and cures for children battling cancer.

ALSF was born as the front yard lemonade stand of 4-year-old cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996 – 2004), who said she wanted to give her proceeds to her doctors so they could “help other kids, like they helped me.” By the time she passed in 2004, Alex had started a national movement that saw people set up their own lemonade stands and, in total, raised more than $1 million toward a cure for childhood cancer. Her foundation has gone on to raise more than $250 million to research childhood cancer causes, treatments and cures.

“Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation has been our longest beneficiary partnership and for good reason—They are incredibly supportive of the work that we do at Tap Cancer Out, helping make each event we host more impactful” said Jon Thomas, founder and executive director of Tap Cancer Out. “It’s a great honor to help fund the innovative research and family support services ALSF provides.”

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is changing the lives of children with cancer by funding impactful research, raising awareness, supporting families and empowering everyone to help cure childhood cancer.

“Tap Cancer Out plays an important role in our fight against childhood cancer,” said Liz Scott, Alex’s mom and co-executive director of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. “Their contributions have helped fund better treatments for children and assist in state-of-the art research breakthroughs and treatments that are ultimately helping kids in their battle with cancer.”

About Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF)

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of 4-year-old Alexandra “Alex” Scott, who was fighting cancer and wanted to raise money to find cures for all children with cancer. Her spirit and determination inspired others to support her cause, and when she passed away at the age of 8, she had raised $1 million. Since then, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement and is one of the leading funders of pediatric cancer research in the U.S. and Canada.
