Madeline is a bubbly, outgoing, caring 9-year-old who is smart and fierce. Madeline likes the Disney Channel, playing volleyball, singing and Girl Scouts. When it comes to food, she’s pro-Peeps and anti-broccoli.

On the morning of April 30, 2013, Madeline experienced a Grand Mal seizure at home. A CT at the local hospital showed a mass. She was then transported to Children's Hospital in Oakland, where an MRI revealed a grape sized tumor in the left frontal lobe of her brain. At that time, doctors did not believe the tumor to be cancerous.

She underwent a complete tumor resection on May 28, 2013. Pathology results in June revealed the tumor was an anaplastic ependymoma. She was then rushed into another MRI of her spine and had a lumbar puncture. Luckily, the MRI and lumbar puncture were negative for cancer cells and tumors.

Madeline had scans, one of which showed the tumor returning. She had more surgeries and as of June 2016 was NED (no evidence of disease). At this time doctors are not recommending radiation or chemotherapy.

Madeline has faced her situation head-on and her strength has kept the family strong. She has also raised money for ALSF through her lemonade stand. When she found out she would need surgeries, she cried and then said "okay, we are going to do this.” And she did.
