Vicente is 11 years old and loves trains. When he’s having fun, he always says it’s the “best day ever”. He is very grateful for all he gets to enjoy in life!

But at only 8 months old, Vicente came down with a bad cough. His dad, Ricardo, never expected that cough to mean he had Stage IV neuroblastoma. Vicente’s treatment consisted of chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery all before he turned 3.

With help from the Travel For Care program, Ricardo was able to get his son to the treatment he needed three hours from their home in Texas. Today, Vicente is cancer-free, and a survivor!

“He is my hero because he fought for two years as a baby, and won,” said Ricardo. “I hope that he lives a long life.”

To others who might also be facing a childhood cancer diagnosis, Ricardo says, “It will be rough and lonely, but people will come to your side you never thought would and being there during the tough times allows you to smile more during the good ones.”

To Ricardo and Vicente, Alex’s Lemoande Stand Foundation means a lot, for helping them see each other during Vicente’s treatment.
