Ryan began having a lot of leg pain, to the point where it started to keep him up at night. I brought him to the doctor to see what the matter was. To our surprise, an x-ray showed that there was something growing over his left fibula. It was confirmed with a biopsy that it was Ewing's sarcoma. We were so grateful that it hadn't metastasized to any other part of Ryan's body. He had to endure 9 months of chemotherapy with frequent trips to our local hospital with neutropenia. Today he is enjoying life in the 1st grade with only trips to see his Oncologist and Orthopedic surgeon every 3 months and has attained NED (No Evidence of Disease) status!
