A baby battling leukemia in Minnesota will be honored in Turlock on Saturday with “Sweet London’s Lemonade,” a lemonade stand and bake sale fundraiser that aims to raise $1,000 for cancer research.
The story of London Andersen, who was diagnosed last year with infant leukemia at just three months old, caught the attention of Turlock resident Christy Lopez as she was scrolling through Facebook one day.
Fifteen years ago, the beginnings of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) grew from the front yard lemonade stand of 4-year-old cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott. Today, the Foundation bearing her name has become one of the nation’s leading philanthropic organizations in support of pediatric cancer research.
The Uptown location of chain restaurant Applebee’s is taking part in a month-long campaign supporting the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.
The fundraiser started Tuesday and marks the 11th consecutive year that franchisees of Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar have supported the foundation.
For the eleventh consecutive year, Applebee's will support Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation during a month long campaign that started on Monday, June 29th. Since 2005, nearly $5 million dollars have been raised and more than 870 Applebee's restaurants across the country will work toward the $6 million mark, including Saratoga! A portion of the proceeds from all the lemonade products sold will be donated to pediatric cancer research.
