Childhood Cancer

Avery Lynn

Avery Lynn was just a few weeks shy of her 5th birthday when she was diagnosed with Stage IV Embryonal Rhabomyosarcoma. She spent the first four months in treatment in her home state of Michigan, but then traveled to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) for the remaining six months.  After six weeks of Proton Therapy and 42 weeks of chemotherapy, Avery was declared cancer free in August 2012.

Being away from home, away from siblings and other family members for six months had multiple challenges.  Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation helped support our family with the assistance of meal gift cards at the cafeteria.  This proved very helpful for the many long days we spent there throughout her chemotherapy treatment.

During our time there, we also were able to participate in the Alex’s Lemonade Stand telethon and connect with other families, which was also very fun.

Thanks so much to Alex’s Lemonade Stand for your assistance to our family!
